Beauty and the Geezer: Larry Schwarz Takes the
Porn Plunge
In Red Light District's Beauty and the Geezer, Larry Schwarz, the studio's recently
retired longtime publicist, jumps in front of the camera for his "first and
only" sex scene-at age 68-with 22 year-old Tatiana Kush.Geezer is something of a milestone movie: the first feature from Red Light in
over three years and the studio's first Blu-ray release, in addition to Schwartz's sex
debut.
There's nothing unusual about someone from porn management
popping up in a scene occasionally. But Larry isn't the usual case. He's the stepfather of
superstar Jewel De'Nyle, the ex-husband of late-blooming MILF De'Bella, and the former
father-in-law of the movie's producer, Michael Stefano.
That makes him the head of what's got to be the First
Family of Porn.
"My stepdaughter really started the whole process
within our family," Schwarz told AVN. "My unfortunately ex-wife did it for quite
some time, was very popular, when she turned 49 to 50. Then I decided I'll do one,
especially for this kind of thing. If you add the former son-in-law, this family has all
been involved some place or another. I'm not sure if there's ever been a family that
widespread."
For Tatiana, a petite brunette from Oregon who's been
working on and off for two years, it was a dream part. "Larry's a real sweet
guy," she told AVN. "I gotta understand how somebody can be nervous, their first
scene and yeah, he is a bit older. But he was really very professional, very sweet, he
wanted to make sure he wasn't going to hurt me in any way."
Schwarz said the whole thing started when company owner
David Joseph suggested in a staff meeting that they do a feature, perhaps taking advantage
of the current vogue for spoofs and parodies. (RLD's last feature releases were directed
by James Avalon in 2004 and 2005.)
One night, Schwarz and Stefano went walking in a Valley
park along with starlet Aubrey Addams, who remarked on the number of bench-warming
seniors, referring to one as a "geezer." Stefano was intrigued by the word,
which he'd never heard before, and it gave him the idea for a spoof on Beauty and the
Beast.
Stefano wrote the screenplay and put together the
production. The beauty would fall for an old geezer, to be played in white fright wig and
fake buck-teeth by Larry, his Red Light colleague and former father-in-law.
The movie was directed and photographed in high definition
by Maestro Claudio, who also plays the non-sex role of Beauty's father. He described it as
a "nice little movie, with dialogue. We had some nice lighting. We shot two days.
Mike told me they wanted to do a spoof for a long time."
Schwarz called Tatiana "one of the most fantastic
young ladies I've ever had the pleasure of being around. I don't want to gush about it,
but she ended the 13 hours on Sunday in exactly the same great mood and attitude that she
had when she walked in on Saturday morning. Never ever showed an ounce of stress. Learned
every single line for every single part. She had the greatest expressions, was able to
change looks on a second's notice, whether she was sad, happy, fearful, whatever. She's a
fabulous little actress.
"And of course having to deal with me. If she didn't
like being with an older gentleman, she never let me know. It was the best kind of a
situation I could have experienced."
"I think we had way more fun than we should
have," Kush said. "There's a whole romantic side to it." After the Geezer
discharges on her tummy, he morphs into a handsome prince, portrayed by Christian.
"He had a spell cast on him so long ago that until somebody would love him-and fuck
him-he would remain a hideous old man."
There are four other "Red Light-type" sex scenes,
including a girl-girl between Kush and Addams, whose use of the word "geezer"
sparked the project in the first place.
Schwarz refused to take a fee for his performance.
"I've always considered myself a company person," he said. "I always felt I
got paid well, so I had them pay for the AIM [HIV test] and that was it. How many 68
year-old guys get a chance to do something like this?"
